Also known as corporate treasury

What it means

Cash and liquidity planning

Treasury work considers expected receipts, payments, available balances and access to funding. It distinguishes an accounting balance from money that can actually be used when an obligation falls due.

Digital-asset operations

A business holding cryptocurrency also needs policies for asset exposure, custody, signing authority, conversion and reconciled records. Stablecoin holdings, exchange balances and bank deposits have different dependencies. A treasury policy should state approval limits and responses to unavailable providers or changing market conditions.

Related concepts

Price volatility, Currency conversion, Key management, Payment reconciliation.

In practice

A concrete example

A company forecasts upcoming supplier payments and sets approved holding and conversion limits for the assets it receives from customers.

Technical notes & boundaries

Treasury management is not a promise of higher returns. Holding a stablecoin or quickly converting an asset does not remove every liquidity or counterparty risk.
