What it means

Observe the complete flow

Useful signals can include request failures, processing delays, webhook backlog, unmatched transactions and failed payouts. Infrastructure availability and correct business outcomes are different measurements; a running server can still process an order incorrectly.

Make observations actionable

Define which conditions require investigation, who receives alerts and how an incident is resolved. Monitoring should connect to durable operation identifiers and reconciliation evidence. An alert is a signal to act, not proof that funds have been lost or that retrying an operation is safe.

Related concepts

Payment reconciliation, Failover, Service-level agreement.

In practice

A concrete example

A team investigates orders stuck in a pending state and checks their original payment identifiers before attempting recovery.

Technical notes & boundaries

Monitoring does not itself provide failover, repair data or establish compliance with every financial monitoring obligation.
