What it means
A separate stage
A customer payment, a platform transfer and an external payout can be different operations. Availability of funds, scheduling and receipt by the destination institution may follow separate rules.
Track the recipient and result
A payout process should retain the recipient, amount, currency, destination and operation identifier. It must handle pending, failed and returned outcomes under the provider’s contract. Batch payments, seller payments and payroll can have additional approval, reporting or legal requirements beyond the transfer itself.
Related concepts
In practice
A concrete example
A merchant matches an external bank payout to the provider balance activity and waits for evidence of the final bank posting.
Technical notes & boundaries
A scheduled payout is not a guarantee of immediate availability. Bank cutoffs, provider policies, verification and failures can affect receipt.
