Document and payment request
An invoice can contain line items, tax information, currency, identifiers and a due date. Required fields depend on the jurisdiction and transaction. A payment request generated by software is not automatically a legally sufficient tax invoice.
Track the lifecycle
An invoice may be draft, issued, paid, voided or otherwise adjusted under a system’s rules. Issuing an invoice does not prove receipt of money. A business should retain the original obligation, subsequent changes and evidence linking accepted payments or credit adjustments to it.

A concrete example
A seller issues an invoice in euros and records the agreed exchange rate and crypto transaction reference when accepting an alternative payment asset.
Technical notes & boundaries
A tax invoice, pro forma invoice and payment receipt have different purposes. Check applicable invoicing rules rather than relying only on a platform template.
