What it means

Define the starting point

“Net 30” commonly means the full amount is due after 30 days, but the agreement must identify the starting event and how days are counted. Invoice date, receipt date and acceptance date are not automatically interchangeable.

Make the due date usable

Record an explicit due date and any agreed early-payment discounts, late charges or dispute procedures. For crypto settlement of a fiat-priced invoice, state which asset may be used and how its value is calculated. A future due date does not itself authorize automatic collection from the customer.

Related concepts

Invoice, B2B payment, Currency conversion.

In practice

A concrete example

A supplier invoice states a specific due date rather than relying on an unexplained “net 30” label.

Technical notes & boundaries

Interpretation, interest and enforceability depend on the contract and applicable law. Invoice software fields do not independently create agreed credit terms.
