What it means
Gas sponsorship and charging
A paymaster may sponsor eligible actions or arrange another charging model, such as payment in a supported token. It interacts with the EntryPoint and must fund the relevant gas costs according to the deployed protocol version.
Policy is part of the product
Sponsorship can depend on an allowlist, budget, expiry, user eligibility or other checks. A checkout must handle rejected sponsorship and execution failures. A screen describing an action as gasless refers to the user’s payment experience; someone still pays the network costs.
Related concepts
In practice
A concrete example
A business offers sponsored checkout to eligible customers while enforcing a daily gas budget and a fallback when sponsorship is unavailable.
Technical notes & boundaries
Deposit, staking and validation requirements depend on the standard and validation model. Do not claim that every paymaster must meet one identical staking policy.
